António Jacinto is currently the Vice Dean and Professor of Cell Biology at the NOVA Medical School of the NOVA University Lisbon, and Coordinator of the Chronic Diseases Research Center (CEDOC). 

António Jacinto has a degree in Business Management (1988) from the Catholic University, Lisbon, a degree in Biochemistry (1993) from the University of Lisbon, and a PhD in Developmental Biology and Genetics (1999) from the University of London, UK. 

After a Post Doc in University College London, UK, he started his independent research group in the Gulbenkian Institute of Science, Oeiras. In 2004 he moved to the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Lisbon, and joined the NOVA Medical School in 2011. His research group studies tissue and organ regeneration and homeostasis, from fundamental research to clinical translation. 

He has published research papers in high impact journals and has been awarded highly competitive national and international research grants. 

He has been distinguished with several prizes including a medal of services from the Portuguese Ministry of Health (silver) for the contributions made in biomedical research.
